Week 4: Assignment I


Objectives
Upon completing the assignment, you should be able to answer the following questions:

  • How to cross-compile a program to be run on Gumstix?
  • How to transfer files to/from Gumstix from/to its host?

In addition, your Gumstixes should be capable of communicating with each other, and with other wifi-enabled computers in ad-hoc mode.

Note that from this week onwards, grading is based on group performance.


Please take extreme care while FLASHING the BOOT LOADER!!  If it failed, Gumstix wouldn't be able to boot without the aid of hardware reflash tools!

Week 5: Assignment II


Objectives
To evaluate your understanding of the tasks done over the past 3 weeks.  The scope of the tasks are:

  • communications between Gumstix and its host
  • Gumstix filesystem reflash
  • cross-compilation
  • wireless communications between Gumstixes

Week 6: Assignment III


Objectives

  • To learn the basic usage of packet analyzer.
  • To conduct a simple field test in a mobile scenario and analyze the collected data.

Week 7: Assignment IV

As stated in the course schedule, every group is required to present the project proposal on Week 8.  This assignment will serve as the preparation prior to the project kick-off.  Regular discussions among team members are encouraged to complete the assignment.
